Family Violence Intervention Program
Domestic Violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power or control over an intimate partner. It could happen to anyone regardless of age, race, religion, gender identification or socioeconomic background. It could happen to couples that are married, living together or just dating. The abuse maybe physical, sexual, emotional, financial, or a combination of either. One in four women in the United States will be affected by domestic violence in their lifetime.
Community Oasis Counseling & Training in collaboration with Inspired Gratefulness Counseling offers an evidence based cognitive behavioral treatment approach that has been proven effective with adults and juvenile offenders. This program consists of male or female offenders of family violence and is designed to change how offenders think (belief system) therefore changing behaviors. These MRT groups run 28 – 35 weeks depending on individual behaviors and satisfactory completion. This didactic and interactive format consists of open-ended dialogue, group discussions, and the utilization of a MRT workbook.
